i still don’t know if this will be the final design for the insectoid aliens from my sci-fi story (the sipunculas), but i think it’s pretty close at this point.

that might’ve been the case if we’d seen the 3D version! luckily we’re smart so we avoided it.

it was good. typical action movie trope fodder, but i do enjoy Joss Whedon’s writing.
i still don’t like Marvel’s versions of the Norse gods though. a) they’re nowhere near being as ridiculous and wacky as the actual gods, which is what i love so much about the pantheon, b) i want Loki to be a good guy for once (and he didn’t shapeshift a single time in the movie, which is his main power), and c) i can’t get over how completely stupid and ridiculous i find it when Thor twirls his hammer to fly.he’s the god of thunder WHY DOES HE NEED TO DO THAT.it just looks really, really dumb to me. also they don’t look like vikings.
other than that it was fairly enjoyable. definitely liked the friendship between Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, and the one-on-one fights were very exciting. the problem (and this is with most action movies, as my mom pointed out) is the climax of the movie is one story element (good guys beat bad guys) stretched over the last act of the film, which really isn’t that interesting. by the time it got into the actual “war” i was just waiting for it to be over.
i’ve never really been a fan of these characters in comic book form, and i’m certainly not going to start because of this. i won’t say it wasn’t worth watching, though.
